DHAKA, (Xinhua) -- A passenger bus rammed into a roadside tea-stall in Bangladesh's northwestern Bogra district leaving at least five persons killed and 15 others yesterday.
Police and witnesses said the bus rammed into the tea-stall in Shibganj sub-district, about 150 kms from capital Dhaka, as the driver lost control over the steering in his bid to overtake a rickshaw van at about 5 p.m. local time.
All the victims were sipping tea or gossiping in the stall when the accident took place.
The driver of the bus fled away.
Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates for road accidents in the world. According to official statistics, more than 10,000 people are killed every year.
