Computers for all secondary schools in Bangladesh by 2017: Official

  DHAKA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Bangladeshi Education Minister NurulIslam Naheed has said computers would be provided to all secondary schools in Bangladesh by 2017 to build 'Digital Bangladesh' within2021, official news agency BSS reported Monday. 

  The education minister was addressing a world conference held in Bonn, Germany on 'Education for Sustainable Development (ESD): Second Half of UN Decade' held from March 31 to April 2, an official handout said and was quoted by BSS. 

  A 19-point 'Bonn Declaration' was adopted in the conference incorporating specific guidelines for implementing different agenda in the second half of the decade on education. 

  In the Bonn conference, Naheed said Bangladesh government has taken steps to ensure enrollment of all children in schools and check dropping out. 

  He called upon United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization and other development partners for providing necessary cooperation for spreading education in Bangladesh. 

  The education minister said Bangladesh has been successful in removing gender discrimination from primary and secondary schools and spreading primary education despite resources constraints and institutional weakness.
